From Narayan Gopal to Dipak Bajracharya and some revolutionist singers; Mukti and Revivials, Sanjaya Shrestha (Cross Road), Raju Lama and 1974 AD etc - have mesmerised my generation. They have changed Nepali music to the next level. We used to listen to them on cassette tapes. Unnoticed to me for years, the songs and lyrics have become a different kind. I conclude that it has slipped off the mainstream 'Nepali ways'. Recent tunes are 'imported' - maybe because they do not resemble my flavour. Once I shared my playlist with my son, He responded that I was stuck in the 90s. Am I that old generation now? 😒 I forced myself on youtube for a few 'top' songs like Samir Shrestha (my 5 years daughter's favourite), Sajjan Raj Vaidya and Swoopna Suman etc. In fact, they are not that bad, although they are not folk enough for me. I looked back to my days - how my favourite genre was disliked by the 'old' people. I am not indulged in these 'new' songs...
