Showing posts with the label happy

Khusi Bana!

I see graffiti in many places in Kathmandu, a face half-shadowed, half-lit, smiling and beneath it, two simple words,  खुसी बन — Be happy . This graffiti triggered some questions and thoughts. It sounded less like advice and more like an order. And I wondered—why do we need to be told (or instructed) to be happy? Isn't happiness the life motto? We are always seeking happiness, but the fundamental question remains unanswered: how to be happy? There are thousands of prescriptions for happiness. Many preach shortcuts to be happy. There are thousands of books written on how to be happy. And 'be happy' is probably the easiest suggestion we often receive. We all want to be happy. But the recipe remained a mystery.  I know, and you know that happiness means different things to different people. We tend to associate it with 'things'. If I get this, then I will be happy. If that, then I will be happy. It sounds like we have outsourced our happiness. I searched about happines...

Reasons to run

Forrest Gump said to a stranger at the bus stop bench “That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd run to the end of town.... For no particular reason, I just kept on going.” As Forrest Gump continued his story but sadly Amir Khan's 'Lal Singh Chhaddi' did no magic. The copy of the movie did not worked.  The point is, I start to run again. And I have reasons to do so. Unlike Forrest and Lal Singh, I wanted to buy waist 34 jeans, but the underneath reason is also to reclaim my health. I ran at Kakani for a year - back in 1998. The uphill and downhill, playing hide and seek with Lamtang Himal and saving leeches from stepping on them . I was at the peak of my physical strength.    Now after more than two decades, I resumed. I was carrying a relatively big belly. Suddenly, things changed Lightning and thunderstorm - like in a Hindi movie - in the background, I tied my shoes ...

To keep going

Simon Sinek and Winfrey are great to listen to. Damn! I don't have internet here. Loneliness is definitely not a motivator. It slowly drags down unnoticed. What do I do? I run in the morning.  I talk to my friend during breakfast. I eat a special 'ful' full stomach and a plate of fruit punch. Heavy lunch, a full pizza. Not to mention they taste amazing. Sorry, they are beef. I can't find buff here. Buffalos are wild species here, it's illegal to eat buffalos. It is not that difficult to keep myself happy. I am a simple man with a small dream and small necessity. Smaller achievements keep me happy. Viber chat/video with family makes my evening joyful. And, I look back on my day during my dinner. My small steps keep me energized for the big job tomorrow. While trying to change the world, my laptop crashed. But I am not worried, it's me who is more important, not the laptop. #GoodNight. #StayingMotivated

Back and busy

Many things have changed  - businesses are resuming, and new buildings are being constructed. Restaurants are crowded and more vehicles are on the street. It feels like COVID does not exist but.. it is going to hit.  I am suddenly pressed by the piles of pending work and 24 hours a day seems not enough. I wake up, take a walk, and then and in the afternoon Daily life keeps on adjusting to the changes.  The local coffee once again rejoices in my day. Injera is a daily food once again, at least for another 40 days. The Covid has made traveling difficult. And we adjust and we keep ourselves busy and keep ourselves happy.🙏
