Kathmandu city topped the global list

Finally, Kathmandu topped the list of being the first in the world. What a shame for Kathmandu dwellers - who love to talk about the god and goddesses, temples and stupas, and culture and festivals of Kathmandu.  I heard a lot, about the arati puja of Pashupati in the evening. The spirituality and religion of that event were highly recommended. I attended the arati with my family. The crowd was waiting divinely when we reached there. The first noticeable was the smell of the river. It was terrible. Bagmati is a shrine river - which turned into a sewerage. The belief of a gateway to nirvana from that river bank has vanished. A dead person, if he/she can, will prefer to keep distance from the Bagmati river for his/her cremation.  Jay Pashupati Nath, I feel for you.  This morning, I passed Teku chowk in the morning. Green leaves have budded out of the tree, declaring Spring. Again I see the heartbreaking scene. The niceness of the tree has been crushed by the road that...

Happy New Year 2080 BS & start of a new decade of 80s

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening! no matter where you are, if you know Bikram Sambat, you must be excited to start the New year 2080, and a New decade. Happy New Year 2080 and Happy New Decade 80s.  Being ahead of the Gregorian calendar by 56 Years, 8 Months and 15 Days makes no sense in real terms, but this feeling of pride for being advanced is illusive. My last blog on the new year is already two years old. Time does not crawl, its flies. There is no way to slow down or stop time, and it is not necessary. On the Shortness of Life by Seneca is a good way to start but I hate self-help books and self-help gurus. They give us a dose of dopamine - to feel good about future plans, and nothing improves until I act. So, I have a simple rule of thumb. ACT rest will follow, but with a bit of thoughtfulness. 2070s was an amazing decade - in general. I look back and many many good things happened to me. It has been a fulfilling 10 years, with many best memories of family, kid...

End of the academic year - 2079

We managed to drive up to Tau Daha , after finishing the annual functions at the schools of our son and daughter. Coincidently, both programmes were on the same day. I had to skip one function to attend another, but it was worth seeing their final results and moving to the next grade. The teachers gave a slight glimpse figure of their student's learning - which, possibly, is an impact of two years of covid. The student's ability to learn has been deminished. We have the same observation. Despite Basic Level Assessment (BLA), the government's exam in grade 8, petrify, my son did good. This is what he claims. They will start grade 9 after two weeks. And the irony is that the government will publish the results months afterward.  Back to Taudaha, the place reminded me of a book, Hansa , the Swan, who is learning the life in that surroundings. The place is completely from what the writer, Sanjeeb Uprety has defined. It is now crowded. The Daha has been commercialized. The entr...
