Ink On a Finger, Hope On The Nation

Today was a different morning, because I was not running but walking to vote for the House of Representatives election in Nepal. My voting station is a little further than my current home, at Sorhakhutte, where I grew up. I have not officially changed my residence yet. As no vehicle movement is allowed, I prepare myself and my wife to walk to the polling station. It was an hour walk through the core of Kathmandu. I passed several polling centres, seeing voters in full enthusiasm.  Voting is a simple act. A few minutes in a queue, a stamp on a ballot, fold the ballot paper and drop it into a box. Yet behind this simple ritual lies something profound. It holds the faith of a nation and the belief that ordinary citizens can shape the future of their country. This system is built on hundreds of years of trial and error. And I firmly believe that voting can bring a big change quietly.  For us, democracy has never been a simple process. It has been a journey, full of turbulence. Ove...

From limited internet to no internet and back to little internet

This week, there has been an evolutionary, historical event. We witnessed it. Sadly, it took our internet away. The electricity has been cut off and the mobile phones are too switched off. But the event was celebrated, and the actors were welcomed. Celebrations and fireworks and rallies cheered the city.  Changes are expected, but it was sudden. This change also brings uncertainty and a bit of confusion. We adapt, we modify and we evolve in accordance with this new environment. We have now super limited internet and life without a telephone is funny, difficult, and slow. And again, we flow with the current.  The Ying Yang is a beauty. Tiredness also brings sound rest. Fewer beings fulfillment. Less is more. Scarcity forced optimal utilization. Certainly is boring.
